Start at the campsite and turn left on Hobrovej in Vammen. Ride to the paved road in Vammen. At the junction turn left again onto Tjele Møllevej toward Tjele. Hold to the left and cross Tjele Å (stream), then drive up the hill. At the top, turn right onto Foulumdalvej towards Foulum 1. From here, there’s a beautiful view – but be careful, the road descends steeply toward Formyre.

At the T-junction, turn right onto road 517 towards Viborg. In Foulum, there’s an idyllic fire pond – here turn left onto Burrehøjvej toward Velds 4. Pass the sports field and the old school, follow the paved road, and looking right AU = Aarhus University – this part is DCA = Danish Centre for Food and Agriculture.

At the T-junction with road 16, turn right towards Viborg, and after about 30 m, turn left onto Velds Husevej towards Velds 1 and Ø Bakker. At the T-junction in Velds, turn left. After the sign Ø Bakker, turn right after 30 m onto Øby 3 and Ø Bakker (Rydalsvej). The road winds down. Cross a meadow and the northern part of the Nørre River. From here, enjoy the view over Ø Bakker and the heather-covered hills.

At the parking area, you’ll find a map of Ø Bakker, and from here you can access the hills via a marked trail. Continue to the next T-junction. If you turn left towards Øby 1, you’ll reach the little village – but as it’s a dead end, you must turn back.

Instead, turn right along Østervangsvej towards the sign Vejrumbro 4. Along the way there are great views of the southern part of Nørre Å and the valley. Shortly after Fårdalvej, Vesterskovvej turns right and after approx. 20 meters a paved cycling and hiking path turns right (built on a disused railway). This part of the disused railroad line is located on an embankment with a wide view over Nørreådalen. So it’s recommended to take a short walk to the right along it, as it also goes through gorges and over an old bridge. You must then return to the asphalt road, Vesterskovvej.

Instead, turn right onto Østervangsvej toward Vejrumbro 4. Enjoy the beautiful views over the southern part of the Nørreå valley. At the junction, continue straight towards Vejrumbro 4 and Viskum 2. After about 20 m, turn right onto a disused railway, accessible by foot or bicycle only. It’s recommended to park and walk 1–2 km. This part of the disused railway line is located along a raised embankment with panoramic views of the Nørreå valley. It continues through ravines and over an old bridge. Return to the main road afterward.

Where Ingstrup Møllevej, Fædalhøjvej and Ingstrupvej meet, turn right onto Ingstrupvej towards Rødding and after approx. 300 meters turn right again, now on Klarisgårdvej.

Turn right instead and in the village of Over Viskum turn right again towards road 16. At the yellow schoolhouse (now a Schnapps- and Flower workshop), turn left onto Over Viskumvej. Cross road 16, and after about 100 m also cross Hobro Landevej heading toward Rødding. Follow the paved road to a T-junction and turn right onto Ingstrupvej towards Rødding. After 300 m, turn right onto Klarisgårdsvej. After about 500 m, follow the asphalt road left at the bend. After another 500 m the asphalt ends, and Meldgårdsvej turns off to the left – continue straight on the gravel road (Klarisgårdvej). Several burial mounds can be seen along the way – protected under Danish law for over a century.

At the T-junction, turn right onto the cycle path and continue straight to the Camping sign just beyond Vammen. Turn right onto Bygmarksvej and return to the campsite.
