Follow the camping road towards Vammen and keep left at the Y-junction.

In Vammen, turn left onto Hobrovej.

At the intersection, turn right onto Nørregade. The road leads past Forsamlingshuset on the left.

Vammen Church from around 1200 has a Romanesque apse, choir and nave. The tower and porch are late Gothic additions. You now walk through the oldest part of Vammen, Nederby, and turn right on Øster Kærvej at the wastewater treatment plant.

Today, the meadows are mainly used for grazing and haymaking or just lie fallow. This provides opportunities for a rich bird and animal life and an abundance of fauna. On the right is a beautiful gorge formed during the Ice Age (30 meter rise).

On the north side of Skalsådalen are the protected and heather-clad Hærup Bakker, where fallow deer and roe deer roam in herds.

At the yellow marker post, turn right along the sandy road. If you’re lucky you’ll see fresh animal tracks (of deer, fox and badger).

Follow the road to the intersection, where you turn right. On the left – right by property no. 39, is the highest point in the area, Rishøj, 57 meters above sea level.

Follow the sand road and the blue posts to the houses on Løndalen. Turn left and at the scout house keep left and walk up towards the paved Hobrovej. Turn right and then immediately left along Bygmarksvej to the campsite.

a) A village hall is a small town’s/village’s shared cultural center and meeting place used for lectures, meetings, events, private or public parties, etc. There are approximately 1,000 village halls in Denmark.

b) The meadows are divided into many small plots because all the properties in Vammen used to make hay for their cattle and dig peat for the household.

c) If you want to walk a little further out into the meadows, you can walk about 200 meters further along Øster Kærvej, turn left and follow the road that ends about 100 meters from Skals Å. The heron is often seen out here and the nightingale can be heard from mid-May to Summer Solstice.
